Pietro Arina, doctor , and Davide Ferrari, software engineer, established Lapis AI Studio in London. Their team brings together financial expertise from prestigious academic and corporate backgrounds, including University College London (Arina’s educational institution), King’s College London (Ferrari’s alma mater), and JP Morgan. The startup is further strengthened by notable advisors like Paolo Missier, an esteemed AI expert who lectures at the University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science and holds a fellowship at the Alan Turing Institute.
Lapis AI Studio is launching a platform in beta public demo mode, Lapis, within days. Delivered as a SaaS solution, the platform is tailored to finance professionals, offering effective and targeted AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
“We’ve developed a tool specifically designed for professionals in private credit and investment banking,” explains Arina, CEO of Lapis AI Studio, in an interview with Startupbusiness. “Our platform focuses on improving efficiency, automating management, and boosting productivity in daily operations. It also features a proprietary technology for knowledge graphs from databases and data analysis.”
The start-up has utilized approximately £30,000 in bootstrap funding and is currently raising around €1 million under the UK’s Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS). This programme offers incentives for investors in qualifying start-ups, including Lapis AI Studio. “Our aim is to expand in the market while continuing to enhance the platform, which already includes AI-powered tools, graphical systems, and access to data databases that improve performance and accuracy,” Arina adds.
Lapis AI Studio has been selected for Microsoft’s and Nvidia’s start-up programmes. While the founders are focused on serving financial professionals, they are also exploring applications in other fields, such as consulting and legal services.
